Overview of financial requirement

Financially, you must prove that you are able to finance your stay in the UK as a student. The amount of money you have to prove is usually a fixed amount each month for 9 months.

If you are not applying from or studying in the UK but have been living here for more than 12 months without permission, proof of adequacy of accommodation costs and payment fees must be made.

If you are from an exempt country, there is no need to provide financial proof, but make sure you have sufficient funds saved. You may need to submit it for UK visas and immigration.

If you are applying to study with a student union leisure officer or to train as a doctor or dentist, there is no need to show money.
