Money you need

You must have enough money to pay for the course and stay in the UK. The amount you need depends on your condition and the type of request.
  • Course fees
  • To cover the cost of funding your course for one year (minimum 9 months). Payment will appear on your Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS).
  • If you are in the UK on a visa that is valid for at least twelve months, there is no need to prove that you have sufficient funds.

Money to support yourself (‘financial requirement’)

You must prove that you can support yourself financially - as long as you have been in the UK on a valid visa for the 12 months preceding the date of your application.

The amount of money you need depends on where you want to study. You will need one of these:

  • £1,365 per month (up to 9 months) for courses in London.
  • £1,056 per month (up to 9 months) for courses outside the capital.
  • However, if you are staying in an independent residential school, accommodation fees will apply. It will depend on how much you have to pay on your CAS.
  • And confirmation of the University of Groningen Scholarship 2023-24.
  • London means the City of London and the 32 boroughs of London.
  • You must maintain this amount continuously for 28 days. The last day of the 28-day period must not be later than 31 days after the date you submitted your application.
  • For a person with student loans or financial aid, proof must be provided by the company.

When you do not need to prove you have money to support yourself

You do not need to prove financial need if:

  • If you are applying as a relaxation officer in the Student Union.
