Applications are open for the Brunei Darussalam Government Scholarship 2025/26. This is a fully-funded scholarship for international students to pursue Diploma, Bachelors and Masters degree programmes for postgraduate studies. Brunei citizens and Brunei permanent residents are not eligible for this scholarship. The Brunei Darussalam Government Scholarship is funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Brunei. The scholarship is available at five universities in Brunei. These five universities are the highest ranked universities in Brunei. The studies will commence in July/August 2025. Applicants must apply online and complete the online application form. IELTS is not required and the applicant’s English language proficiency will be assessed in an interview.

- Exemption from tuition fees, including admission, examination, registration and orientation fees, for the duration of the programme.
- You will be offered economy class air tickets from a Brunei university to your home country and vice versa.
- A monthly allowance of BND 500 is provided.
- A monthly meal allowance of BND 150 is provided.
- A yearly book allowance of BND 600 is provided.
- Accommodation at the boarding school will be provided.
- Upon completion of the programme, a baggage allowance is also provided, which is BHD 250 for countries within the ASEAN region and BHD 5 per person for countries outside the ASEAN region.
- Comprehensive health insurance will be provided for you.
Eligibility Criteria for Brunei Darussalam Government Scholarships
- Required Language: English, Malay or Arabic
- Eligible Countries: Applications are open to citizens of ASEAN, Commonwealth and OIC countries, among others.
- Applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 25 for undergraduate and diploma programmes and must not be older than 35 for postgraduate master’s programmes on 31 July 2025.
- The award is not eligible for permanent residents of Brunei Darussalam.
- This scholarship cannot be held in conjunction with any other scholarship, fellowship, grant or loan without prior approval from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
- The fellow is not advised to bring any family members with him/her for the duration of the fellowship.
- The fellow is not permitted to undertake any paid employment or be part of the staff of a representative mission of any country in Brunei Darussalam during the duration of the fellowship.
- Upon completion of the programme, the scholarship recipient will be required to leave Brunei Darussalam with immediate effect.

- You must provide personal details, educational experience and language proficiency details.
- You must fill in all fields with due care.
- It would be helpful to mention your first and second optional study programme and university.
- Your completed application form must be certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or National Contact Point.
- You must submit a security clearance declaration from the National Security Agency or Police Station in your country.
- All supporting documents must be in Word, PDF or JPG format.
- If you are applying to University of Brunei Darussalam, you must also complete the application from their website.
