Scholarship Coverage
The Melbourne Research Scholarship provides the following benefits to the recipient:
- Salary and fees compensation grant
- Full fee waiver for up to two years in the case of Masters by research degree and up to four years in the case of doctoral studies.
- A living allowance equal to $32,400 per year for two years (prorated to the full-time rate in the first year) by master's or doctoral degree students. This is an annual index of living allowance that includes limited paid sick, maternity and paternity leave.
- A $2,000 transfer scholarship for students leaving states or territories other than Victoria, and those outside Australia must receive a $3 transfer scholarship.
- OSHC Individual Membership is for international students who hold a valid student visa to study in Australia
- Research Scholars are granted a full fee waiver for up to two years for Master's students and up to four years for PhD students.

How to Apply for Melbourne Research Scholarships (MRS)?
Please follow the steps below to apply for the Melbourne Research Scholarship:
- If your course is undergraduate research and you apply for it before the closing date, you will automatically be registered with GRAS. The scholarship application will be added to your record within 7 days. You will receive a notification after submitting your course application.
- Therefore, if you accept an offer for an undergraduate research course and defer starting your scholarship reconsideration, the online application form for subsequent years must be submitted by 31 October of the same year. You will be eligible for a scholarship. Within seven days of submitting the online form, you will receive notification that the grant application has been placed in your records.
- If you would like to take advantage of the scholarship next year and are currently studying for an advanced research course, submit your application online by 31 October. Seven days after submitting the online form, you will receive notification that the grant application has been added to your record.
